A Short, Sad Love Story

This is the title of Reekrit's second short story and personally for me; it is perfect timing to talk about it. The story is a commentary on the gossip-mongers in the society. A life is lost because of a non-issue snow-balling in to a grave situation. Once I finished reading the story, my mind was boggled by questions regarding 'the privacy of a person'. In our society, there is no privacy:no Right to it whatsoever and no Respect of it by others.
The story highlights that how all of us are submitting ourselves to the dictats of the society and its opinions. Who are the people who frame these opinions, I ask today. The majority, who are mediocre people with nothing constructive to keep them occupied, I believe! Believe you me, these people are deciding how Good and intelligent people lead their lives. As in this story, also how they end their lives! Such a sorry state of affairs.
But guess what? I refuse to be governed by such senseless laws! I am smart and I am governed by the rules of the Almighty. I may be living in UTOPIA but I am not angry, sad and lonely!
I just hope and pray that like me, if not everyone but some around me can take a stand for Truth and their Happiness.

Caution to the Winds!

I must confess that I favour Autumn much more than Spring. Well, who can match up to the full-bodied sublimity of a lady in her forties? Even the boisterous heedlessness of youth pales in comparison !

But today I was caught unawares.... The morning dawned to a bright sunny day with no inkling of rain. As I was trapped indoors taking a class, nature played its home run! Thick grey clouds clothed the canopy and lo! There was Rain!

The trees, the myriad hues of the flowers, the clueless birds; all joined in the celebrations. It was a sight to behold, an experience to enrich the soul. My mind kept wandering from the task at hand to a walk by the lake, a moment of holding hands and sharing everything yet devoid of any exchange whatsoever. An eternal moment where life dances on every leaf; gamboling around in the verdant plains.

I traveled to the faraway land where the ecstatic peacock throws caution to the winds and dances in liberated tandem with the drops of inebriant  pouring down.

Spring too has its Charm! The impertinence of the season did infuse in me the playfulness of a child. I  too was careless, heedless
for the remaining part of the day : Throwing caution to the winds!

IMPULSE

I had the good fortune of meeting a young and very much in love couple Radhika and Reekrit Serai, at a literary event. Reekrit's second book 'Impulse' was also being launched at the event. There was a talk by the author about the book during the same event. Reekrit was talking about his journey as an author; but what reached out to me during that conversation was his journey as a Person. I was carrying Reekrit's personality with me for quite sometime after that. However the hustle-bustle of life and its web caught up with my faculties.

As chance would have it, I bumped into Radhika and Reekrit again at a common friend's office. This was our first informal interaction and I felt even more drawn towards the couple. Reekrit wanted me to read his book and write about it. As a student of Human Behaviour, what more could I have asked for? I know(being a writer myself) that the best way to know a writer is to read his/her work. I jumped at the opportunity. The next thing I knew was, I had a copy of Reekrit's latest offering: Impulse in my hands!

I want to talk about Impulse. It is a collection of short stories and I have just read the first story. Let me tell you that by no measures does this story fall short on any account. In simple yet uninhibited words has the writer dealt with the intricacies of human relations. I was drawn to the thought and understanding that went into creating such a collage of emotions. 27 will definitely strike a chord with every reader.

As for myself I can say that I am looking forward to reading the next story: A short, sad love story........
